Paddles as Canvas Collection

Each 57-inch beavertail paddle begins as a finely crafted Canadian aspen paddle before becoming the canvas for an original painting. Hand-painted by Canadian artist C. Foster, every piece transforms a traditional symbol of Canada’s waterways into a collectible work of fine art. Inspired by landscapes, florals, and memories of places near and far, each paddle is painted individually—never reproduced—allowing the natural wood grain to become part of the design. Finished with traditional hand lashing and protective varnish, these paddles are created to be used or displayed as statement pieces.

Why Paddles?

For me, the paddle has always represented more than a way to travel across the water.

I learned to canoe as a child and spent my teenage years on extended canoe expeditions before becoming an avid canoe tripper and whitewater canoeist as a young adult. Some of my happiest memories were shaped from the seat of a canoe—quiet mornings on northern lakes, winding rivers, and countless portages through the Canadian Shield.

Those experiences left me with a deep appreciation for both the beauty of Canada's wilderness and the paddle itself. Today, each one becomes my canvas, blending a lifetime on the water with my passion for painting. Every paddle I create is both a celebration of Canadian tradition and an original work of fine art.
