This scene along a neighbourhood creek is all about the delicate layering hoarfrost creates — branches feathered in white, shadows stretching softly across untouched snow. There’s a barely-there sense of movement, as if everything is on pause, waiting for the sun to come along and change it all again.

This work is part of my Hoarfrost Series. There are winter days when everything feels suspended — trees become lacework and light softens. An ordinary walk in my neighbourhood turns extraordinary. The Hoarfrost Series was born from that — stepping outside and sensing, just for a moment, that I was living inside a fairyland. These paintings capture that rare stillness, when our climate wraps the landscape in a magical robe - unlike any other.
