This painting didn’t come from a photograph or a posed moment. There was no real child standing in the snow, no snowman waiting patiently to be studied. It began as a sister piece to another painting that has already found its home. I always imagined they would live side by side — two small stories unfolding in the same snowy world. But art has its own journey.
Here, a little girl leans toward her snowman, mid-conversation perhaps. There’s something innocent and unguarded in the moment, a private exchange between child and creation. Maybe it was meant to stand on its own all along. And perhaps, somewhere, there’s a special little girl — or someone who remembers being one — who will see herself in it.
