This is a larger oil painting, and I let myself fully lean into the richness that oils offer. The cool palette — layered purples, blues, and soft teals — moves through the landscape with depth and subtle shifts of light.

The shoreline may feel familiar, but the colour carries it slightly beyond realism. I wasn’t trying to replicate exactly what I saw. I wanted to explore the indulgence of cool tones in a natural setting, letting them settle into the rocks, the water, and the quiet spaces in between. At this scale, the painting becomes immersive. The water feels expansive, the foreground grounding, and the trees stand watch along the edge. It’s reflective without being heavy, calm without being static.
