Dubrovnik’s historic Stradun transforms at night in the rain. It’s a favourite scene of mine and one that brings back very fond memories. The stone buildings glow in warm gold and amber, their windows spilling light onto the wet pavement.

I took a little artistic license with the abundance of red umbrellas drifting down the street like small embers against centuries-old walls. That contrast is what pulled me in — cool rain against warm light, old history against present-day bustle. This painting holds that shimmer: the romance of old Europe softened by rainfall and reflection.
