This entry into my Hidden Leaf Collection began with a few photos of my rose bush at home — a plant that was not exactly thriving, but still had a quiet beauty I couldn’t ignore. There were only a few blooms, but the foliage kept catching my eye: the way the leaves trailed, overlapped, and shifted between blue, green, and soft shadow.
Rather than paint the rose bush literally, I used those photos as a starting point and let the composition become something more atmospheric. It feels less like a portrait of a plant and more like a memory of a garden that is still offering beauty in its own imperfect way.
