This composition was originally created by South Dakota artist Jim Musil. This painting is my way of paying homage — acknowledging his creative vision while interpreting it through my own voice and palette.

The California poppies immediately drew me in. Their brilliant red, my favourite colour, moves boldly across the foreground, alive against the rolling greens beyond. I leaned into that intensity, letting the landscape support the vibrancy rather than compete with it. While the structure of the scene nods to its origin, the finished piece is about both influence and individuality — a reminder that inspiration can be shared while expression remains personal.
